Two CHS seniors named National Merit Semifinalists

Two Charlottesville High School seniors have been named National Merit Semifinalists and will be competing to earn a scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Competition.
Sydney Rasmussen and William "Ford" Snellings are among the fewer than 1% of U.S. high school students to earn the accolade, which goes to academically talented seniors nationwide with the highest PSAT scores in their state. These students will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for about 6,700 National Merit Scholarships – worth approximately $24 million – that will be offered next spring.
Additionally, 15 CHS seniors were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars: Judah Baker, Kellen Bobko, Rose Brennan-Wilkinson, Curtis Carter, Lucia Clarens, Catherine Crook, Patrick Daly, Sean Frank, Jane Friesen, Oscar Gromoll, Esme Ogden-Amt, Katherine Scharf, Solomon Schwartzman, Cameron Steele, and Noah Zunder.
These students are among the approximately 34,000 Commended Students nationwide being recognized for exceptional academic promise.
