CMS ATHLETICS
Young Knight athletics include football, volleyball, cheer, basketball, swimming, track, softball & baseball. Eighth graders can also try out for CHS JV teams. Major emphasis is devoted to sportsmanship, healthy competition, and becoming a positive team player.

Winter Cheer Conditioning
Winter Cheer is closely approaching. If you are interesting in trying out for cheer, please attend any/all conditioning dates. All cheer conditioning sessions will be held at Charlottesville High School in the back gym. You must have a VHSL physical on file to participate in any conditioning or tryouts for CMS or CHS sports. For more information about Winter Cheer please reach out to head coach Aja Lomax
Winter Cheer Conditioning Dates:
- Tuesday, Novemeber 11th- 4:30-6:30 pm
- Thursday, Novemeber 13th- 4:30-6:30 pm
Boys and Girls Basketball Conditioning Dates
Basketball Conditioning is starting in October!
All conditioning days will be from 3:30-5:30 pm in the CMS gym.
You must have a VHSL physical on file to participate in conditioning.

Winter Sports Tryouts- The Week of November 17th
All Winter Sports will have tryouts during the week of November 17th. Any 6th, 7th or 8th grader can tryout. More details to come.

Cheer on the Young Knights
- 10 and under: Free
- CMS students: Free tickets available at lunches (otherwise $2)
- 11-17 (non-CMS student): $3
- 18-64: $4
- 65 and older: Free
Student Eligibility & Forms
To be eligible for a sport, a student must maintain passing grades in all classes. There will be weekly grade checks. See Athletic Handbook for details.
Transportation
Students staying after school for activities may ride the activity school bus home. School buses are also provided for student athletes going to CHS for practice. An activity bus will leave CHS after practice times to drop students off at various stops around the city.
To be able to ride home from games with another family, students must have a “Permission to Ride” form on file.
